Dear Colleagues,

During the May CMS week, we had a very successful panel discussion featuring CMS Alumni who are now employed outside of high energy physics. The panel featured speakers employed near Geneva. A recording of the panel can be found at:
https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=253327

There is interest in a workshop featuring alumni employed in the United States. People have also told us that they prefer a workshop that has the panelists physically present, and not on vidyo. Given this, and given that we have no funding to pay for panelist's travel, we are considering holding a panel discussion at the LPC at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

Since organizing such a panel requires a surprising amount of work,
we prefer to hold a workshop only if there will be 40 or more people in the audience. We are currently considering two possible dates. 23 July corresponds to a Global Event Description "event" at the LPC. This is also close in time to the TLEP workshop (25-26 July). We are also considering 14-16 Oct. This corresponds to a SUSY "event" for CMS at the LPC.

If you are a graduate student within three years of graduation or if you are a postdoc, if you are interesting in attending in person this panel, can you please check with your advisors and see if they would be willing to send you to the LPC on either of these dates? If so, please inform Sean Kalafut (Sean Kalafut ) who is gathering the statistics. If we find a date that can have 40 attendees, we will schedule the event. Please let us know if you are a postdoc, a graduate student, or other.

Best
